This scene from the campus of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon is typical of Beaverton and the Portland metropolitan area.

Trees are tall and covered with moss. Grass is green and often littered with a few oak leaves. The sky seems undecided, as though rain is always a possibility. Okay, rain is probable, but is usually so gentle, true Oregonians never carry umbrellas.

Pacific beaches are only 70 miles to the west, and the ski areas of Mount Hood are 60 miles to the east. Boating and fishing are popular on the nearby Columbia and Willamette Rivers.

Culturally, Portland and the other coastal cities of the Pacific Northwest share a common heritage of pioneer spirit, tempered with concern for the environment, and enriched by our global connections through trade and migration. The area serves as home base for Nike, OSDL, and Tektronix, and also boasts major campuses for Intel and IBM.

We encourage you to come for a visit. But be sure to bring an umbrella.
